Descriptive
New Year’s Eve is one of the most exciting holidays for me. About 3 years ago, I got to see Skrillex perform at the Rave in Milwaukee on New Year’s Eve. Skrillex is a show I will never forget. The drive up to Milwaukee seemed like it took forever! The butterflies were tickling my stomach as the excitement of my favorite holiday and Skrillex performing was getting closer and closer. Listening to Skrillex most of the way on our trip to Milwaukee, my friends and I would dance and sing in the car to make the time pass.
Finally, we made it to Milwaukee. Not quite time for the show, we had a few hours to have a couple drinks and get ready for the night. The smell of hairspray fills the room as us girls curl our hair. Also, the smell of sour whisky is coming from the other side of the hotel room. We are finally ready to head over to the show. As we walk downstairs, there was a wedding going on. A New Year’s wedding; how awesome is that? The hotel we stayed was very luxurious, so it was kind of awkward walking into the main lobby wearing neon colored outfits and sparkly, colorful makeup for the show. In the main area of the hotel stands a 15 foot Christmas tree decorated with elegant ornaments and gold Christmas lights. As we stood in the main lobby waiting for the cab, we stared at that Christmas tree like we had never seen one before.
The cab arrives and asks us where we are headed. We responded the show at the Rave. Milwaukee is a very busy city. The cab driver started driving towards our venue. We had to take two cabs, due to the amount of people in our group. The cab drivers started joking around and racing. As we sit awkwardly and silently in our seats, it feels like we are on a rollercoaster. The cab driver goes fast over a small hill and I swear we flew like Dumbo. A calming sensation goes through our body as we arrive to the Rave.

Might I suggest adding the rave/Skrillex concert? It ends rather suddenly, and you could add so much about the concert. I like the story though. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteVery nice descriptions, I was able to follow you each step of your adventure. What stood out to me is how excited that you were and talked about the butterflys in your stomach.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw Bassnectar at The Rave I thought the drive took forever too. I have not been to a concert on New Years Eve, but it is on my bucket list. In the main area of the hotel stands a 15 foot Christmas tree decorated with elegant ornaments and gold Christmas lights. As we sit awkwardly and silently in our seats, it feels like we are on a rollercoaster. I thought these were two very descriptive sentences, but would have liked to see a couple more. I think rollercoaster is spelled wrong too. Again awesome job babe!
ReplyDeleteI have seen alot of shows at the rave myself. It was very easy to follow your story. I had a similar experience with my buddy and I staying in Chicago for an Incubus concert. Pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI love the plot but also wish there would be more, it was kind of short. I like to see a little bit more detail but good job describing your hotel with details and how you guys got ready to go to the rave. Alittle bit more would've been awesome.
ReplyDeleteI have been going to raves for 21 years. It is still one of my favorite things to do. There is quite an electronic music following in our area, Knowing this experience first hand I have to say you definitely could have added quite a bit more of amazing detail. I really liked your story I wish there was more to it.
ReplyDeleteI think that this was very easy to follow and had some good details. I am a huge fan of live music and go to several shows every year. I know exactly what you meant when you were talking about having butterflies in your stomach before a show, it is a great feeling. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice job on setting up the anticipation of the show. The butterflies were tickling my stomach as the excitement of my favorite holiday and Skrillex performing was getting closer and closer. I would have liked to know how your friends felt and the talk before the show. Maybe tell of your anticipation the days and weeks before the show. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteI found no errors in this essay. Music is a big part of my life so it was easy for me to get into this essay. I think you did a wonderful job! :)
